Meet Kelly
Had To Be There is the brainchild of Kelly Acevedo, a lifelong Connecticut resident. Aside from her day job, Kelly has been hosting and producing the Had To Be There podcast since January of 2022 and is also a proud affiliate of Academy Travel where she is an independent travel consultant specializing in Disney Destinations. She and her husband currently reside in Seymour with their two dogs, Lexi and Shadow.
Armed with a Communications degree from Quinnipiac University (Go Bobcats!) and a unique background in film, theater, dance, design, and even hobby baking, Kelly works full time as a Marketing & Communications Manager in Fairfield County.
The Business of Memories
We all have those stories where we're not able to put into words just how incredible, or hilarious, or touching that memory was, and can only end our efforts by saying "I'm telling you - ya just had to be there!" It was from those moments that HTBT was born.
Kelly has nursed Had To Be There through several iterations since its inception: first as a musical theater program that served local youth for many years, then as a video production company, a digital design service, even shortly as a flashmob organizer, and now as a podcast. Kelly's goal with HTBT has always revolved around the moments in our lives that become lasting memories. Big or small, it is in those "Had To Be There" moments that shape the person we are to become.
